A book stand is a great gift idea for any real lover of books. Currently offered designs range from simple wire creations such as the Fold’N'Stow that holds a book at adjustable angles on virtually any flat surface, to the infinitely more elaborate LEVO Bookholder which secures your book or other reading material in either a floor stand design or a clamp-on model that easily fastens to any table, desk, or counter top. Many book stand designs function well with hard cover books, but most also can function quite well with paperback books when they are mounted within book holders like an OpenPage.
The Fold’N'Stow is one of the most affordable of book stands. It folds flat and comes with it’s own convenient pouch punched for easy placement in a 3 ring binder. It can be placed on a counter top for recipe books, or atop your desk, table, workstation, bench, etc. Wire arms with page keepers extend from the back plane to hold your book open, and, by moving the arms either closer together or farther apart, smaller and larger books may be easily accommodated. The back plane has horizontal pieces that can be moved to adjust the angle at which the book is held relative to the surface upon which it is resting.
The most popular model of the LEVO book stand is the LEVO floor standing model, which includes a weighted base on casters for ease of movement just about anywhere. Wherever you position it, it will position in virtually any position you can imagine. With a bookboard which adjusts into virtually any position, and combined with a book mounting mechanism that will secure your book, even in an inverted position, the LEVO makes reading truly hands-free from just about any position.
The LEVO Clamp On design is just as convenient as its floor standing sibling, but features a clamp that firmly holds any desk, table, counter top, work bench or other flat surface up to 2 inches thick, and provides identical movements as the floor model, without the degree of telescoping movements vertically. By keeping your reading materials above the surface to which it is attached, the clamp on design saves the weight and expense of the weighted base while still freeing up work space, since neither your book nor your book holder rest on the working surface.
Even though there are other book stand designs now available, the LEVO and Fold’N'Stow designs have stood the test of time and function well under long term use.
